Depending on the student, we may begin with a book, of which I have several different favorites to work with. I have also writtien out my own music books that I can edit on my computer and update for each student. beyond using a book, we will also learn scales, chords, rhythm, and music theory. I create a lot of my own exercises for my students and that seems to really keep them interested, instead of reading from the same conventional book every lesson. Read More

I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

When receiving a student I first like to get to know the student by friending them. Asking question as to what their likes are and just getting to know them. For the beginner we start of with a Method book that fits their age and personaity and go from there.
