Celebrating 20 years of teaching violin, I’m excited to open my studio to the Musika community. I have extensive experience in the traditions of Joseph Joachim, Jascha Brodsky, Ivan Galamian, and Dorothy DeLay. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance studying under renowned violinist Alice Schoenfeld. I started teaching part time while still in high school back in my native Malaysia and that is where my experience began. I taught on and off while in Malaysia during the pandemic (due to the nature of COVID), but I have gotten into regular teaching since moving to LA in 2022. I am an instructor who emphasizes student success, happiness, fulfillment and result. I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. For learning to read music I use one of the method books like "A Tune a day" or Strictly Strings which teach the fundamentals of read music and music theory. Read More

I started playing the violin when I was 7 years old and changed to viola at age 15. I am a passionate instructor who does best for understanding and enjoying the music. I've participated in 4+ orchestras, film music, contemporary music. I have 2+ year of teaching experience, played the viola over 10 years. While I was in orchestras, I volunteered at hospitals, though some people aren't able to communicate, they could feel and enjoy the music with me. Read More

I create a personalized lesson plan for each and every student I teach, because not everyone learns the same way. I incorporate music and exercises from a variety of different books in a way that I think would best suit my student. I will often also have my students learn music that has a part for a second violin, so that I can accompany them. For a complicated instrument like the violin, learning left-hand technique comes before right-hand technique, and then combining them together. Read More

My first teaching experience was at age of 14. I was asked from the Korean Language School to teach the students as an extra curriculum. Since then, I taught private students for 12 years and studio students for 3 years.I also taught in youth orchestra for 10 years which can help the students to do better performing in their school orchestras as well.My main goal for teaching is to have students love playing music.
