I also will learn what their weaknesses and strengths are and push them to improve all around. I have a pretty laid back style of teaching. I have taught violin since the year 2011. My students have primarily been between the ages of 10-16 with the exception of one student being in her 40's. I have taught beginners to advanced beginners, and most of my students have to this point hired me to train for a particular upcoming audition. I started teaching at the age of 15 at my father's violin school in Yunnan, China. The school currently has more than two hundred violin students and five violin teachers. Almost every year I travels back to China and give master classes and exchange valuable teaching experience with the students and teachers there. I have been playing professionally since 2018, with performances all over LA ranging from jazz combos to salsa bands. I also have notable performances such as opening for The Marias (2018), and recording trombone for BTS on their hit song, "ON" (2019). I also am a strong composer that focuses on as many genres as I play. I believe all musicians should be well rounded and be aware of the business and how to actually pursue this as a career. I use a wide variety of methods depending on the student's current ability level, musical preferences, and goals. I'm also willing to work with a method or book that a student is currently using. Generally, my students have a varying ratio of technique/scale study to work on the foundations, an etude/short piece study to help connect musical ideas and teach expression, and a solo piece that is prepared over a long period of time, most likely for a future recital.
