I am a professional musician with 15 years of experience, performing at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, Studio 54 and all around the world. As an educator, I've taught K-12 for the last seven years, focusing on modern band instruments like guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. My curriculum at school is inspired by School of Rock, the movie, and focuses on teaching students the instrumetns and music of the modern rock band. Read More

Private lessons with an interest in the students interest. The student has to be excited to learn the techniques to begin with. This is especially true with recording techniques using DAW's. Many students who pursue this already have an interest. Because if this the teaching and learning process is greatly amplified and learning can sometimes even go both ways. When teaching drums I approach every lesson like it is new. Read More

To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. When I graduated, I knew that the next logical and intuitive step for me was teaching. Not only do I want to help others achieve their goals, I also feel that teaching pays homage to all of the mentors and teachers I've had throughout my life. Read More

I have been teaching professionally for a decade, and what has been most consistent throughout my experience is to learn to adapt to each student. Every student has a unique background, goals and specific learning style. What I do is get the student on track with fundamental knowledge of music, so that they can stand on their own two feet musically, and then with these tools, lead them towards whatever vision they wish to realize. I like to first get a feel for the students abilities and asses how to teach them by breaking things down to their bare essentials before suggesting a good book to go through and the right exercises. I find that most young students or beginners need to see some form of result to stay engaged so I try and get them moving with sticks on a pad or even learning a basic drum beat within the first two lessons. Nice, friendly and patient. The most important part of the lesson is the state of mind. For anyone, going to a lesson should be an event to look forward to, nothing else. So, I try to make the drummer in everyone "go to work", even though I take the easy approach. And I love it when the students feel like they get it. Read More

I have taught private lessons for over 10 years and in this time have learned a lot about finding what we should stick to and what to let go of. We get into music because we love it. We all love different kinds of music, so I like to keep the focus on what kind of music the student is interested in. Long term goals are good but I tend to stick a lot closer to the next immediate step. Read More
