I also encourage students to practice vocal-instrumental coordination when establishing the concepts of musical expression within structures. I adopt some ear training for younger students as they develop a sense of pitch and theoretical knowledge for adults who learn better with checkpoints. My teaching experience started in high school when my private teacher started teaching me how to teach. I then accepted students on a continual basis, usually working two jobs. I realized at a later point in my life that I would like to make teaching my profession and started getting more serious about how I would proceed with teaching music. I have been teaching privately for fourteen years now. I studied under Dr. Ernest Salem at Cal State Fullerton and received various master class from members of Talich Quartet, Mary Straub, Wei-Wei Lu, and most notably James Buswell. My former teacher, Andrea Byers, studied with world renown, Ivan Galamian. I received my bachelor's with an emphasis in music education. After completing my undergrad, I was accepted to the Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University of Long Beach on scholarship, and studied violin performance. Read More

I have enjoyed teaching both private and group music classes for over 15 years. I teach piano and violin . I teach a range of music styles from classical to folk to Mariachi Music. I received my degree from Loyola Marymount University. I have been a member of the Junior Philharmonic, Orchestra of California, Loyola Marymount University Orchestra and Beach Cities Symphony. I currently co-conduct the youth group Mariachi Alma Juvenil. I really enjoyed teaching students and seeing them progress from a novice to an intermediate to an advanced student. Read More

As of this updated bio due to COVID-19 (Nov. 2020), Greg has been doing a hybrid format of teaching, primarily through Zoom with some in person instruction while maintaining orders of social distancing and wearing masks. He is currently on faculty at Santiago Canyon College, Santa Ana College, Neal Music Instruction in Anaheim, WePlay Music in Irvine, and La Serna High School in Whittier.
