For beginning students that have already been studying through a school program or are already working with instructional material, I am more than happy to jump in and tailor my instruction accordingly. For students that have no musical background whatsoever, I can supply materials as I see fit, given the disposition of the student. Also, I am happy to create custom lesson plans (etudes and short studies) to meet the specific needs of novice students in an effort to increase the enjoyment and efficiency of the learning process. Celebrating 20 years of teaching violin, I’m excited to open my studio to the Musika community. I have extensive experience in the traditions of Joseph Joachim, Jascha Brodsky, Ivan Galamian, and Dorothy DeLay. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance studying under renowned violinist Alice Schoenfeld. My studies at USC focused heavily on solo, chamber, and orchestral work -- my performances included live radio, solo engagements, and appearances with leading orchestras. Read More

I am motivated to keep students constantly engaged and passionate about their instrument! As a multi-instrumentalist I always play different instruments with students to give them a sense of playing in a group, which is what music should be all about! I also do my best to acknowledge the students strengths and weaknesses and take some time aside in class to speak to them about them. I believe it is important to have positive feedback but also to recognizes areas in which students can improve. Read More

Having studied Music for almost 20 years I have always wanted to give the gift of music to others through education. After high school I became a marching band coach for 3 years assisting in teaching various sections and leadership positions. I have performed in many cities across the United States as well as internationally. I have had the opportunity to perform in several musical productions both on stage and in the pit orchestra, musicals from Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, The Music Man, Footloose, Anything Goes, to Ragtime. For beginning students, i like to start with the Essential Elements method book. The pieces in this method book are good for beginners because they are short and simple. For more advanced students, I like to delve into the Suzuki method books and then into more advanced solo repertoire from there. However, each student is different, so each student's lesson may look different. I also like to see what pieces or scales the student is interested in learning and incorporate that into the lesson plan. Read More

My teaching experience started in high school when my private teacher started teaching me how to teach. I then accepted students on a continual basis, usually working two jobs. I realized at a later point in my life that I would like to make teaching my profession and started getting more serious about how I would proceed with teaching music. I have had students for over 25 years and without a doubt, parental involvement and practice are the two main factors for success of young students, along with a good teacher. Read More
