Some students were getting good on the beginning methods and understanding what the music book is going to read and learn about. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Violin Method (Viola version available) with occasional ear training with the piano with the Kodaly method. For intermediate and advanced students, I introduce a variety of etudes, scale books, and solo repertoire, e.g. Carl Flesch, Kreutzer, Mazas, Dont, Dounis, and Unaccompanied Bach, etc. For viola students or violinists who are looking into doubling the viola, I introduce many techniques including Karen Tuttle and Primrose Scales to help along with the transition. Circe D. is an award-winning Venezuelan cellist hailing from El Sistema, Venezuelas acclaimed youth music program. She was a student of magnet school New World School of Arts in Florida, studying under David Cole, as well as a cello performance student at the University of Florida graduating both academic programs with honors. Ms. Circe D. also holds a masters degree in Cello Performance from the University of Florida. Ms. Circe D. has performed as a touring featured cellist with The Nuevo Mundo String Quartet, the World Orchestra String Quartet, and as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Aragua and the Whittier Symphony Orchestra, among others. I was a member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and a doctoral candidate at the University of Memphis. I worked with South Dakota Symphony, Tupelo Symphony and North Carolina Symphony. My teaching method books involve All for Strings and Suzuki books. Suzuki books are categorized from level 1-10, level 8-10 is the equivalent of college level repertoire. I currently have students on level 1-8. In addition, I also look for individual method books and outside repertoire of Suzuki once the student is ready to move at a faster pace or in need of additional help.
