My style is very basic. I believe that it is very important to play music. A lot can be lost on the practicing and theory. I like to develop the love and passion for music. I believe it is important to learn scales, chords and theory but you have to hear and feel music. My lessons are tailored to the ability of the students. I try to find what style the student likes and begin from there. Read More

I tailor my lessons to the needs and levels of every student. I like to keep an organized electronic folder with PDFs for every student. Handouts on every specific topic are included in these hand-outs, some scanned hand-written exercises that I design for each student and some others extracted from books on different topics. Some books are suggested but I don't follow any single method although I find it very useful the Modern Method For Guitar by William Leavitt, the different books by Barry Galbraith for more advanced students, and The Jazz Conception series Read More

Simply put, I love music. I listen to music and make music and teach music in different styles, on different instruments, in different ways. I've recorded and performed on trombone, trumpet, bass, guitar, ukulele, tuba, and more. I've played with symphony orchestras in Carnegie Hall and with rock bands in Brooklyn basements. I've shared the stage withjazz greats Maynard Ferguson, Jimmie Lunceford, Conrad Herwig, "Blue" Lou Marini, and Jeff Coffin (Flecktones), androckers Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater). It is very important to set a high standard of playing and technique, so that learning is constantly happening. That said, that standard should be approached with compassion and humor, casting the lifelong pursuit of virtuosity an exciting challenge even when it's frustrating. Especially with youth, cultivating a positive attitude and discipline is a key to success. This can be done through musical study. It is important to me to keep the student engaged, and be clear about their motivations for studying: their parents and their own unique drive. Read More

Hello, One of my greatest passion is teaching and inspiring others to want to play music. I hold a Degree in Popular music studies from William Paterson University and a minor in music management. I have had the privelage to perform with a number of artists and musicians in the greater NJ/NY area. I have also played guitar on many professional recording sessions for Major Label associated artists. My main goal is to teach others and give the tools necessary to express themselves through the Guitar. Read More

Nothing makes me happier than having the opportunity to share my love of music and guitar. Upon graduating from Skidmore College in 2000, I was accepted to Florida State University to the classical guitar program under the study of Bruce Holzman. I feel my decision to simultaneously work towards two masters degrees speaks clearly for my motivation and passion towards music. While I focused on music theory/composition for my PhD studies at Louisiana State University, I continued performing newly composed works by graduate composers for the instrument. Read More

I see teaching as a gateway to help students express their creativity, while incorporating a disciplined approach to help them achieve more from challenged in life in general. i don't simply field song requests, I also explain to my students the inner workings of why certain musical concepts work, why the artist may have chosen that and how you as the student can incorporate these creative ideas into your own compositions. What does a normal practice session look like for you?
A normal lesson for me in either drums or guitar consists of half hour time slot learning exercises from the chosen books , new concept lesson and duets with me or playing along to streaming music of your choice or my choice. We incorporate the lessons learned into the songs we choose. Fun , fun fun!!!!!!!

If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I learned drums first, it was my first interest, then guitar because I loved to sing and write songs as well and I need to accompany myself and drums just was't cutting it! LOL I also learned piano and bass to accompany myself in my original songs as I record and my Customized Song Business has a full band recording listing and I am the full Band!

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
I was inspired by my 6th grade teacher who on Fridays in Catholic school bought in a guitar and sang songs with us in the afternoon before we went home. I was inspired again by a drummer in our church who was awesome and spoke to him about lessons and he gave me his practice pad and phone number of his drum teacher. The rest is Hisrory!

When will I start to see results?
If your child is practicing in between lessons you will see results in a couple of weeks. They will know how to play either instrument exercises, or play a familiar melody or song or play along with a song. They should in a few weeks be able to explain some of what they are learning.

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
If your child is asking questions about a particular instrument or enjoys watching others play that instrument or asks you about learning a particular instrument they may be interested in learning how to play that instrument. Set up a trial lesson with a music teacher to find out!

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
I suggest the student practice at least 3 to 5 times per week by reviewing over the lesson from the week before and also weeks prior to review as well. Plus be sure to play along to songs you enjoy if you are at the level of playing your instrument along with streaming music or videos. If you are still a novice and you have songs you would like to learn I will try my best to include them in your lesson so you can play along in some capacity either by playing melody notes, easier chords or I can send you a simple video of me playing the song for you to duet to.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
