I generally ask what your musical interests are and then I find a method specific for each person. I work on identifying chords, improvisation, playing melodies and song writing as well. I am a fan of William levitts books or jazz guitar which is a method I learned at berklee and is a very useful book for picking teqnique in a fun way , exploring some classical etudes for electrical guitar and i find this to be a great tool for developing speed, ear training and identifying chords with different sonorities to them. I am passionate about anything and everything music-related. I have studied and teach the guitar, piano, bass and also have an in-depth knowledge of music theory. I am particularly interested in the genres of metal, jazz, jazz-fusion, and ragtime music, although I have experience teaching other genres like classical, pop, funk, and blues. Some of my favorite bands/artists to name a few are Dream Theater, Allan Holdsworth, Jacob Collier, Tigran Hamasyan, Meshuggah, Alex Machacek, Animals as Leaders, Polyphia and Chick Corea. Read More

Seriousness and also keeping fun and interesting. Being serious to understand music is a science, and fun not to let it become tedious. Most music students don’t stick to practicing for the mere reason nobody has ever showed them the right way to practice, practice with the mind and not as a robot, and keeping it interesting and challenging. You need to challenge yourself, put yourself to the edge. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with basic melodies that are singable and easily recognized. From there we are able to introduce basic theory knowledge. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
Everyone has their own unique voice, and we will find yours together! I have training in several technique-driven styles, including classical and broadway. However, I like to mix and match. I'm not interested in teaching one certain way- I listen on the fly, and make judgment calls according whatever makes YOU sound best. My guitar lessons are geared toward songwriting and accompaniment. I stress simplicity, expressiveness, and real-world performance skills. Read More

I truly enjoy watching my students develop a deep and important love for music. I believe the way to facilitate that is to really get to know your students. Some students benefit from organization while others do better with a more relaxed approach. I take the time to understand what each individual needs and I reflect on what I can do to meet them where they are. My lessons come with structure AND flexibility. Read More

My approach to teaching really varies depending on the students specific needs. For absolute beginners, I can tend to follow a more concrete progression, but depending on who the student is, and what they're level of passion may be for learning something specific, the lesson may be highly specific. If the student is interested, I personally like to give them an understanding of some of the theory as they go along, even if they are a beginner because I believe it helps them to see the bigger picture. Instruments: Guitar Drums
What does a normal practice session look like for you?
A normal lesson for me in either drums or guitar consists of half hour time slot learning exercises from the chosen books , new concept lesson and duets with me or playing along to streaming music of your choice or my choice. We incorporate the lessons learned into the songs we choose. Fun , fun fun!!!!!!!
If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I learned drums first, it was my first interest, then guitar because I loved to sing and write songs as well and I need to accompany myself and drums just was't cutting it! LOL I also learned piano and bass to accompany myself in my original songs as I record and my Customized Song Business has a full band recording listing and I am the full Band!
Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
I was inspired by my 6th grade teacher who on Fridays in Catholic school bought in a guitar and sang songs with us in the afternoon before we went home. I was inspired again by a drummer in our church who was awesome and spoke to him about lessons and he gave me his practice pad and phone number of his drum teacher. The rest is Hisrory!
When will I start to see results?
If your child is practicing in between lessons you will see results in a couple of weeks. They will know how to play either instrument exercises, or play a familiar melody or song or play along with a song. They should in a few weeks be able to explain some of what they are learning.
How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
If your child is asking questions about a particular instrument or enjoys watching others play that instrument or asks you about learning a particular instrument they may be interested in learning how to play that instrument. Set up a trial lesson with a music teacher to find out!
What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
I suggest the student practice at least 3 to 5 times per week by reviewing over the lesson from the week before and also weeks prior to review as well. Plus be sure to play along to songs you enjoy if you are at the level of playing your instrument along with streaming music or videos. If you are still a novice and you have songs you would like to learn I will try my best to include them in your lesson so you can play along in some capacity either by playing melody notes, easier chords or I can send you a simple video of me playing the song for you to duet to.
