I approach every lesson with every student with a focus on patience, empathy, dedication to excellence for myself and my student, and a big dose of fun! I've been teaching since graduating high school part but I've been teaching consistently for the last 5 years since graduating college. I am always exploring different genres, techniques, and ideas of what music is, which has made me a good all around musician. I am a big fan of making things fun because music to me is fun to play. Voice: The voice is a fascinating instrument. We use it every day from the moment we're born and it is constantly changing as we progress through life. I start lessons with an assessment that helps me determine the technical abilities and musical abilities of the singer. Read More

By getting to know each student's music tastes, I can create a lesson plan that makes practice seem less like a chore and more like something they feel inspired to do on my own. And that is always my biggest goal. Read More

I do my best to straddle making singing as tangible as I can, and approach things somewhat scientifically ("This muscle is used in this way," etc.) while also inspiring visualization ("Send your sound out into the distance," etc.) I also really think it's important for musicians to be diverse, so not only will we learn chord and strumming patterns on a guitar, we'll also learn how to read simple lead lines of solos, etc. Read More
