Though I've been professionally teaching for a little over three years, I had my first teaching experiences informally. In bands I'd often help out another guitar player with a certain part or with the songwriting process in general. Even when I worked in a music retail store, I gave a customer an impromptu lesson on how to play the intro to "Blackbird" by Alter Bridge. My number one goal with students is to find out what they like playing and what they want to get out of playing. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Voice
I first started teaching in 2008 in Paris, for groups of 10 students. I have had 3-5yo classes, 6-8 and 9 to 12. It was a very enriching experience to teach for such a young age, and very challenging to have so many students in the same class room! I have since then moved to New York City, and have been teaching one on one lessons for piano, guitar and voice. I adapt to the student's needs and interests. Read More

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to learning an instrument. I utilize a variety of different methods for the variety of instruments I teach (guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, voice). I like to meet with my students and get an idea of the pace in which the learn and how much effort they want to put in. Along with working on music the student wants to learn, I have a wide variety of books as well as my own handouts prepared for my students. Read More

For beginning piano students, I enjoy the Faber Piano Adventures. As the student progresses, I guage what their interests/goals are, and choose repertoire according to their interests. For beginning oboe and woodwind students, I focus on a myriad of things that have nothing (and everything) to do with actual music: how to form a correct embouchure, correct hand and finger position, double and single reed care, instrument construction and maintenance, and finally, sound production. My teaching style is fairly simple. Whatever the student wants to learn, I will do my best to teach them how to take and conquer each step to get there. I never really had any formal music lessons until college, but I know that when I had a teacher, I wished that I could just learn what I wanted to learn. I want my students to feel absolutely comfortable when we're in a lesson. Read More
