Instruments:

I am a classically trained pianist and I have been exposed to the Suzuki style of teaching. I am a self-taught guitarist and I apply my classical training to the popular music I like to play. When I teach, I like to balance my approach with reading and ear training, and with music theory and "feeling" music.

I am familiar with all types of percussion including marimba, vibes, tympani, snare drum, etc. I have been playing drums my whole life in all styles including classical, jazz, rock, soul, latin, and country. I have also taught piano and drums for a number of years. I can teach any style at any level from beginners to advanced on snare drum or the entire drum set.

I am musician who loves to play all styles of music and enjoys performing as often as possible. My background is in jazz and improvisation but have also studied and performed classical, latin, R&B, funk and many other styles. In 2012, I moved to Tempe, AZ to pursue my Master's degree and graduated in the spring of 2014 in Jazz Performance. I performed in pop and rock groups, salsa ensembles, and jazz ensembles all over the Phoenix metro area, but now live in the Pacific Northwest.

Instruments:

I have been teaching private violin lessons since I was in high school-about 7 years ago. I have always had an influx of violin students and was employed by the University of Idaho to teach private violin lessons for their Preparatory Division. My primary instrument is violin, but I also play viola, cello, saxophone and clarinet fluently. My lessons focus around creating characteristic sound and correct technique, as well as short lessons on music history and theory to keep the students' music education well rounded. My previous students range from age 3 to age 50, so I have experience in all age groups. I find all aspects of music absolutely fascinating and love sharing my enthusiasm and knowledge with my students.
