Seeing my students perform lead and supporting roles with Children's Musical Theatre San Jose, Peninsula Youth Theatre, and school productions, and winning awards through NATS, VOCE, and CM is thrilling! For most of my beginning piano students, I use the piano adventures series. They offer a clear and well paced curriculum with numerous supplemental resources in a variety of styles. For beginning music theory, I use the Berklee School of Music texts or the Benward and Saker textbooks as well as many videos and other resources to explore musical concepts. I have experience in vocals, guitar, piano, bass, drums/ percussion and music production. My first experience with teaching music was when I was 14 years old, writing songs and playing in bands. For my students on I usually have them play out of the Alfred's Basic Piano Library. For other instruments we usually look at where students levels are at and work from there. From there I find what they like to practice and work on so they are able to grow. I also give my students scales each week to work on to use as warm-ups and build their dexterity. For my students we also look at the theory behind the music we are playing and use various theory worksheets that work on rhythm or we work out of a basic theory book that works best for the student.
