I typically perform an assessment with every individual during the first lesson. Depending on goals, I will recommend curriculum to achieve the desired results. If a classical approach is desired, I use the Alfred's Basic Piano series and the Hal Leonard method for guitar, along with scale and chord theory literature depending on the level of the student. For beginner students, I base my syllabus off of music education series such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, and other well known education series. It varies depending on the age and development of the student. I have a collection youtube-type internet tutorial videos that I keep handy for specific techniques and purposes. I grew up with loving and compassionate teachers and family members.  It's my job as a human being to offer that same level of respect and compassion.
