For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with blend of methods based on the game form of learning, in which all the appropriate to the child's age skills are acquired through the fun techniques and songs. For piano lessons I prefer use the Alfred's piano books or Hal Leonard's books, for voice lessons I use the methods of classical singing school, Set Riggs method and pop & jazz techniques, it depends on the style, that student prefers to learn. I am a percussionist from Ecuador. I have broad and deep training in world and latin percussion, classical and contemporary music performance, and composition. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More
