For beginning students, I introduce musical theatre and classical repertoire and the fundamentals of music theory. As the student progresses, I include advanced exercises used to strengthen the voice and have them learn various styles of singing based on their interests and career path. Students are expected to vocalize every day on their own and complete any homework or songs before assigned dates. I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. I am also currently the music director for the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church in Yorba Linda California. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

I believe that no matter the level or style, evey singer benefits from understanding the way their vocal anatomy functions, and how to utilize it in a healthy way.
