It is highly important to me to figure out what exactly the student wants out of the lesson and I will adapt my teaching style to fit their needs. We start each lesson with proper breathing technique, the cornerstone of all vocals. We then move on to various vocal exercises to help condition the voice. Then we will work on the songs that interest you and that you are eager to sing! I will use a piano for warm ups and conditioning exercises. My music leadership experience began with competitive show choir in 8th grade - voted Student of the Year - and these experiences inspired me through high school! The show choir program director appointed me tenor section leader in 9th grade and Voice Captain in 10th grade for my ability to lead voice sectional rehearsals and provide pianist accompaniment when needed. For ages 6 to 8, I offer Musical Safari, an overview of many instruments with basis in theory, solfege and reading, helping children and parents make the right choice of instruments based on the student's interest.
