2004 Masters of Music Education, Azusa Pacific University 2001 Bachelors of Music, Azusa Pacific University CBEST completion
I am a creative and nurturing instructor that possesses a Masters in Music Education and over a decade of practical experience. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University, and have enjoyed teaching at the collegiate level for the last several years. Participating in the International Tour of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas",as well as in multiple regional performances at the Geffen Playhouse, Crystal Cathedral, Disneyland, Moonlight Ampitheater and many others, has given me the skill and experience that I love to impart to students! I enjoy working with all skill levels, and helping students achieve their personal and professional goals!
My teaching experience dates back to college, as I was the Vice President of the collegiate choir, and small group leader for international tours. After that point, I had the privilege of working at the elementary, high school, and collegiate levels teaching voice, piano and acting. I have over ten years of experience as an orchestal conductor and music director for Azusa Pacific University, Cal Baptist University and Life Pacific College. I am a member of EMC, and am privileged to have performed at The Colony, SCLO, Candlelight Pavilion, Disneyland, and many other regional theatrical locations. I encourage a consistent rehearsal schedule, utilization of multiple musical styles, technique, performance accountability and creativity!
For piano lessons I generally prefer to use the Alfred curriculum, but am well versed in other options should the student already be accustomed to certain styles. I have assisted students with their Certificate of Merit completion, and worked several students through the entire Alfred curriculum, till they went on to achieve collegiate scholarship opportunities. As a voice teacher, I employ a Bel Canto technique, and specialize in a Musical Theater Style and Classical Background. Vocal health and proper technique are essential to my teaching methods, and of course, having fun!
I enjoy helping students to feel at ease, and to feel confident about their personal growth! I offer challenges to each student at their particular level, and encourage them to pursue performance opportunities, if desired. I enjoy working students with different musical styles and genre to give them a broad perspective on music. I have also employed a small reward system for those students who demonstrate bigger challenges :) Ultimately, I want my students to feel comfortable, challenged, and encouraged in my presence.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
