My teaching goal is to encourage my students to be lifelong patrons of the arts. I understand that every student may not be interested in a career in music. I encourage students to set goals and work toward them. These goals may include a scholarship audition, playing a piece in front of a family member, or booking their first professional "gig." My main goal is to provide inspiration and inspire a student ( no matter what the starting place) to pick a 'first goal." This "first goal" allow the student to set a goal and create a path for success under the supervision of a trained professional. Read More

I am a musician and comedian, passionate about teaching the next batch of artists to be creative and daring in their art. I love helping students learn new skills as well as introducing them to new music in order to help them cultivate their personal style and artistic voice. When I was first learning guitar, I was frustrated about not knowing how to take the ideas in my head and convey them through my guitar. Read More

I Try to get away from mechanism without joy. Everything has to be close to the music. Exercises to be actually doing them with a rhythm and time. Other than doing things musically, practicing in different times and intentions help a lot for the student to be open to play songs in different ways. Technique and theory are necessary tools. To apply concepts musically they need to do it with musical taste. Read More

My lessons are pretty straight forward. We begin with understanding body posture and alignment for singing. Once in good posture, I encourage breath flow while maintaining good alignment. A good exercise for breath control and release is taking a deep breath in 10 seconds, holding the expansion or suspension for 10 seconds and then releasing (NOT PUSHING) the breath in an s sound, all while maintaining a tall and expanded posture. Next, we move on to scales from the middle of the voice to the lowest notes to get the voice warmed up. Read More

I take a very kinesthetic approach to teaching. I believe that no matter the level or style, evey singer benefits from understanding the way their vocal anatomy functions, and how to utilize it in a healthy way. Vocal longevity is a very high priority in my studio, as is having a good time. I am a firm believer that a teacher who does not help a student fall in love with their art has not done their job.
