Hi! I’m a Norwegian-born, LA-based musician with over 7 years of teaching experience in vocals, piano, songwriting, and music theory. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Berklee College of Music, and when I’m not teaching, I’m actively performing — from national TV appearances in Norway to gigs across North America. Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned performer, I tailor every lesson to meet you exactly where you are. Maybe you're prepping for your first gig, singing at your best friend’s 40th, or just wanting to finally hit that high note in the shower — whatever your goals are, I’ll help you get there with practical tools, encouragement, and a focus on what makes your voice or playing unique. My lessons are creative, supportive, and always adapted to your skill level and pace. Let’s make music together — and have fun doing it!
I’ve been teaching music for over 7 years, both online and in-person, working with students from ages 4 to 45 — though most of my current students are between 5–15 and adults 20+. My teaching experience includes everything from private voice, piano, and songwriting lessons to group classes and full band coaching, which I’m planning to offer again in 2026. My own musical journey is rooted in both classical and contemporary styles. I’ve worked with the Norwegian Opera House, giving me a strong foundation in classical technique and musicianship. At the same time, I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with legendary funk and soul musicians like Rocco Prestia (Tower of Power), Chuck Rainey, and Benny Rietveld (Santana) — an experience that deeply shaped my love for groove, improvisation, and stage presence. This broad musical background allows me to connect with students no matter their interests — whether that’s classical piano, pop vocals, songwriting, or just building confidence to jam with friends. I bring a tailored, flexible approach to every lesson, always focusing on what excites and inspires each student.
My teaching philosophy is centered around meeting each student where they are, and building from there — no cookie-cutter lessons, no pressure to be perfect. I believe music should be both fun and empowering, whether you’re training for a performance or just exploring a new skill for yourself. I create custom lesson plans for every student based on their skill level, learning style, goals, and musical taste. Some students thrive with structured exercises and theory, while others learn best through ear training, improvisation, or songwriting. No matter the approach, I make sure it’s engaging, age-appropriate, and personally meaningful to each student. For voice lessons, I combine healthy vocal technique (grounded in both classical and contemporary styles) with real-world performance tools like mic technique, expression, and confidence-building. I often pull from my own experiences on stage and in the studio to help students find their authentic sound. In piano lessons, I balance technical foundation (scales, sight-reading, hand coordination) with creative work — like learning favorite songs, composing short pieces, or even collaborating on songwriting. I also incorporate ear training and music theory in a natural, applied way that supports real musicianship. For songwriting, I guide students through the full process — from lyric development and melody writing to song structure and production concepts. Whether they’re just starting out or building a portfolio, I help them find their voice and style. Above all, I aim to create a space that’s encouraging, inspiring, and pressure-free — where students can grow, take risks, and fall in love with music.
Teaching is one of the greatest joys in my life. I genuinely love helping students discover their voice — whether that’s through singing, playing, writing songs, or simply connecting to music in a deeper way. Watching someone gain confidence, express themselves, and grow through music is incredibly rewarding, and I feel lucky to be a part of that journey. My approach is student-centered, supportive, and personalized. I take time to understand each student’s unique goals, personality, and learning style so I can tailor lessons that truly fit them. Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned performer, I believe you learn best when you feel seen, heard, and encouraged — not judged. I create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where mistakes are part of the process, and creativity is always welcome. Some students need structure and step-by-step technique, while others thrive with a more intuitive, creative flow — and I’m happy to adjust. My job is to bring out what makes you special as a musician, and give you tools to build skill, confidence, and joy. No matter your age or experience, I bring patience, humor, and real passion into every lesson. I want my students to leave feeling better than when they came in — proud of what they’ve done, inspired to keep going, and excited to make music.
