My music experience dates back to playing in the Jazz band in grade school, where I learned the foundational knowledge all music students should have. At Suffolk College, I played saxophone, which lead to starting a rb band with some of my fellow musicians on campus. Traveling through the northeast, we played weddings, corporate functions, and clubs. The experience I gained throughout this time is invaluable and really brought my skill to the next level. I have been teaching for two years, and I truly enjoy it. I was fortunate enough to coach middle school violinists last summer, and I was able to help them individually, as well as help them perform together. Teaching, for me, is a way of shaping the next generation of musicians or music enthusiasts. I can teach students of any ability level, and it is always a joy to work with and get to know a new student. Read More

"Music Is A Never Ending Journey" I grew up studying and performing music since I could open my mouth to try singing and move my fingers to explore the piano, while watching my mother perform professionally or jam with family singalongs. As I went through all my school and university years, my heart would only yearn for a musical career teaching and performing with children, musicians, guest artists and families with special needs as well. I am a passionate musician and educator that wants to help spread love and appreciation of music throughout the world. I believe that music has a great capacity to heal and unite people; it is truly a universal language. I have a great passion for classical music, jazz, and music from different cultures around the world. I compose, arrange, and perform as a soloist and collaborator. I have studied piano performance at the Alfred Cortot School in Paris, at Florida Atlantic University, and at Algoma University in Canada- the latter from which I graduated in 2016. Read More

Seeing my students develop a passion for music is very rewarding. Each student progresses to their own pace; no rush whatsoever. Setting goals that they can achieve will encourage them to progress on track. Acknowledging their accomplishments will keep their desire to continue learning more. I recommend that when they practice, to have them play it for an audience, like family or friends. That way they can be comfortable playing for others because when they are put into recitals, Student Day, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, etc. they'll be able to play at ease, and at the same time, enjoy it too. What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
It’s important to start with a warm up, then scales, arpeggios and chords. I like to play the piece I’m working on, page by page and go back and work out mistakes from just a few measures at a time.
Play slowly! Then gradually speed up until up to tempo.
How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
I think piano lessons can be started when the students hands are big enough to reach across the five white keys and the students can sit still and focused for half an hour.
When will I start to see results?
You should see results right away if you practice regularly.
Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
Yes! My private clarinet teacher was very encouraging as she had such a passion for music and performing and gave me so many experiences playing that were fun and memorable.
My middle school band director and piano teacher were also influences in my decision to study music as a career
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
Actually my Mom chose piano and clarinet for me - she chose well and I’ve been very happy with both!
What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
I’m really proud that I studied organ as an adult and played in a few church services. I was really surprised by how different the technique is from piano and how challenging the floor keyboard would be to master.
Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
My piano students have received special awards at the piano guild competition.
My elementary choir has one many first division ratings at choir contest and several of my students have gone on to study music in college.
What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
See above answer on musical accomplishments. ????
What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I love classical music, especially from the romantic era. Now, I’m a little more interested in impressionistic music, though. (I’ve been playing a lot of Debussey) I like to sight read from Baroque music and blues. ????????????♂️
If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I do play more than one instrument. I can perform on piano, organ and clarinet. ( I don’t play clarinet too often any more, though)
I have also played saxophone and flute and taught lessons on both. Since I was an elementary music teacher, I can play recorder and xylophone pretty well. ????????♀️
I can also sing. ????
Does music run in your family? Tell us a little about your musical family members.
My husband and I met as music majors in college and both got our mater’s In music at the same time. He is an excellent jazz drummer and has played in symphonies. Now, he is an education professor at FIU.
My oldest daughter plays piano, violin and guitar and both daughters sing well.
