I like seeing progress and appreciation in music, and to me that is student success. I enjoy helping students meet their individual goals, and I encourage them to work their hardest to achieve their best. I use humor to keep things engaging. I learn from my students what works most effectively for them as individuals. One of the things my students really enjoy are those certificates at the end of the method books. Read More

For the younger beginning students, I usually start with Alfred's Beginning Piano Series. Once the student has a grasp of the fundementals, I will begin introducing major and minor scales as well as solo repertoire. For my adult students I will see their level of ability and musical interests, find appropriate material based on their taste and formulate the lesson to include fun stuff as well as build proper mechanics.  For my horn lessons depending on the skill level I being with Essential Elements or the Arban book and build from there incorporating solos of the greats, and songs that they want to learn to play. I also incorporate ear training and music theory in a natural, applied way that supports real musicianship. For songwriting, I guide students through the full process from lyric development and melody writing to song structure and production concepts. Whether theyre just starting out or building a portfolio, I help them find their voice and style. Above all, I aim to create a space thats encouraging, inspiring, and pressure-free where students can grow, take risks, and fall in love with music. Read More

We focusmerging and expanding the chest/mouth/nasal and head resonance and try to improve and work with the student's weakness to overcome blocks in order to gain a stronger voice that projects and that will affect others when you sing! I am very familiar with all of the standard piano methods, and will evaluate the student in the first few lessons to choose a method that they will be the most comfortable with.  I supplement all lessons with music theory and outside repertoire, allowing the students to choose from their favorite genres/artists.  For theatre, musical theatre, and vocal coaching, I also employ Linklater and Alexander techniques. I also really enjoy exposing students to styles, genres or artists that they might not be familiar with along with the history behind the music they're learning! Read More
