I won the honor of playing in America's Youth in Concert, performing in Carnegie Hall and touring Europe playing in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, and England. I was a three year All-State musician and won numerous superior rating during high school.

While attending Drake University, I was the winner of the Young Artist Competition which afforded me the honor of featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra.

Overview:
I've been actively teaching for nearly 35 years. Teaching children as well as adults. I graduated from Drake University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Music Education. While in college I played professionally in the Des Moines Symphony and was the winner of the Young Artist Contest which afforded me the privilege of featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra. I've travelled Europe performing in America's Youth in Concert and have played at Carnegie Hall, Notre Dame. I've taught in the public schools for 20 years and have taught from my private studio for nearly 35 years. My joy is seeing my student's dream realized.
EXPERIENCE
I have extensive experience as a teacher as well as a performer. I bring these two accomplishments together to provide a well rounded experience for my students.  In High School, I performed with the Kansas City Youth Symphony for 8 years, the Kansas City Cello Choir for eight years, the Missouri All-State for three years, and various other honor orchestras throughout her career. While still attending Drake University, I played in the Drake Symphony Orchestra, the Des Moines Symphony and the Encore String Trio. I began teaching privately when I was only 16 years old and have been teaching ever since. After teaching in the public schools in Iowa, for 20 years, I now lives in California where I teaches privately and still performs with local groups.
METHODS USED
For beginning string student's, I use Essential Elements for Strings and Schroeder method books. Once the student has grasped the basic fundamentals and note reading, I begin to introduce solo repertoire from the Suzuki String method. Along with technical studies and solo repertoire, the student will learn scales ranging from one to four octaves. For beginning piano student's, I use the Bastein Piano series. This method is complete with a method book, solo repertoire, theory studies and scales.
LESSON STYLE
I believe that every student has their own learning style and I strive to teach to the student. Therefore, every student is taught differently, according to what works for them, and how the student is comfortable being taught. Student's will learn at their own pace while being encouraged to go beyond what they believe they are capable. Students will be given playing opportunities in an annual rectial, and semi annual group performances. I believes one must enjoy what they do, so plan to have fun in your lesson and laugh alot.

Angela is an excellent cello instructor. I have never played an instrument before and am learning as an adult. She is able to cater her teaching style to adults as well as children. She happily explains the whys and hows and answers my questions so that I feel confident and want to learn more. I highly recommend Angela!
