For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. For learning to read music I use one of the method books like "A Tune a day" or Strictly Strings which teach the fundamentals of read music and music theory. Read More

My teaching method is mainly the combination of The Juilliard School of Music and Suzuki Method. Lessons are specifically designed to fit individual students age, background, strength and personality. In my classes, not only students are taught how to play the violin, they are also taught ear training, sight-reading, music theory, and performance skills; Most importantly, students are also taught self-confidence, discipline, appreciation of the arts, and the pride that comes from a job well done. I introduce scales right away and each student usually has a technique book. I also incorporate games into lessons for young students to keep it fun. As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on. I may also write some of my own music, especially for learning note reading. Read More

When my students first start I start them on the Suzuki method until they get to book 4. While they are learning from that certain method I do encourage students to tell me what songs they enjoy listening to and we will choose easy versions of the song that keeps them motivated and excited. Once my students pass book 4 of Suzuki we start getting advanced music including scale books, etudes, and concertos. Read More

To be honest, I never had a formal teaching experience as a music teacher since it is more like a hobby to me. I pursued a different career but music has always been part of my life and my burning passion for it never ceased. When I was a kid, I performed couple of piano recitals, and after several years, I eventually made my mom proud by playing the piano/organ in our church. Read More
