I have taught part time through the Chicago Public Schools where I worked with two kindergarden aged students. I am an avid performer and teacher in the Los Angeles area. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, I attended Westmont College, University of Denver, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I was fortunate to study abroad at the Heidelberg Opera House in Heidelberg, Germany. In addition, I recently was chosen through rigorous auditions to be a Lincoln Center Stage Artist. I grew up as a Suzuki student, but in my professional teaching life have learned to add additional methods into lessons to supplement training. For young, beginner students, I start them off with a method book like "All for Strings," which teaches first by rote. I was very active in chamber music performance. I was a founding member of the University Faculty Chamber Music Ensemble, the Oxford Piano Trio, as well as the baroque music trio, Heinekens Circle. Once the student has a clear understanding of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire and etudes. To make the lesson more engaging, I am flexible in regard to choosing music pieces that a student may want to learn or not. I usually ask a student if they have a piece they would like to learn.
