I have been teaching for the last 14 years for other music schools as well as my home studio. I love to help new students from the ages of 4-99 in learning the joys of playing an instrument or instruments that they are going to enjoy. Nothing truly satifies me more than to see a student advance in their insturment as each lessons passes by. Daily quality and not quantity practice is something I like to encourage the student to be able to advance much faster in mastering the instrument. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my freshman year of high school where I tutored a younger student through the Suzuki Method for the next 5-6 years until she went off to college out of state. I have taught part time through the Chicago Public Schools where I worked with two kindergarden aged students. I have lesson plans and objectives I would like to hit at each lesson but if a skill we are working on still needs more practice then I will not rush to the next task. Read More

My approach to violin pedagogy is to learn through creating an environment of joy. I find that students become inspired and motivated when they find out that music is not only fun, but that they have the tools within themselves to be their own artists and to accomplish short and long term goals. As your teacher my hope is to be your guide to help unlock you or your child’s full and undeniable potential with their instrument and musical voice. Read More

One curriculum will be using the Suzuki method, where Classical music and technique will be at the core of what we do. The second curriculum will be be centered on more contemporary music; Jazz, Pop, etc. In this curriculum, we will study and learn the different keys and chords, improvisation, etc. In both paths, my students will have the opportunity to perform on an annual basis in front of other students and parents. As a student I had many teachers who made me achieve at their pace and with their understanding of what the violin required. Ultimately the classical route did not give me enough freedom to play the way I wanted to. In my work as a teacher I have found that the pursuit of an instrument, though hard work, should fundamentally be enjoyable for the student. Whether it is finding the music that resonates deeply with you, or constructing practice assignments that are clear and achievable within a week, I want to connect with each student I teach and help them to find a regular rhythm in their lessons that keeps them feeling productive.
