Once student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate such as Suzuki for their first performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in or what goals they aim for. Based on their levels, I try to introduce repertoire which they might be interested in and to motivate them to engage themselves with the lessons and practicing in order to achieve what they want from learning music. I also ask them what music they would be interested in learning and see if I can find an easy version of this. I make sure I plan individual lessons and create overall schemes of work for my pupils so they can develop knowledge of materials and repertoire for them at different stages of their musical development. I extend my own musical experience by becoming familiar with the music my pupils listen to and music that is assigned from their primary music instructor, as well as have them become familiar with other musical styles and by developing improvisation and vocal skills.
