My teaching experience dates back to my freshman year of high school where I tutored a younger student through the Suzuki Method for the next 5-6 years until she went off to college out of state. I have taught part time through the Chicago Public Schools where I worked with two kindergarden aged students. I have been teaching privately for fourteen years now. I studied under Dr. Ernest Salem at Cal State Fullerton and received various master class from members of Talich Quartet, Mary Straub, Wei-Wei Lu, and most notably James Buswell. My former teacher, Andrea Byers, studied with world renown, Ivan Galamian. I received my bachelor's with an emphasis in music education. After completing my undergrad, I was accepted to the Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University of Long Beach on scholarship, and studied violin performance. Read More

I have been playing the violin since I was 3, my father was my first violin teacher.  Music is a big part of my life and I do enjoy performing and teaching very much.  I love sharing my music knowledge with others, seeing my students making progress and achieving their goals is priceless and makes my life more worth living.  I have performed as violin soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster of orchestras, those are valuable experiences I had in life that I'd love to pass on to others.  I have also had student recitals every year in the past ten years, my students and I have toured and performed in China. My approach to learning an instruments is to have the students learn to play by ear first before they can start learning to read music. I find that most students are able to progress quickly because it frees them to focus on the playing the instruments rather than reading notes. I consider reading music like different subject that they learn later. Learning music is like learning to speak. First we learn to talk and then we learn to read and write. Read More

My goal for every student especially the beginners is to make them play like a pro as soon as possible with emphasis on playing music by ear. My way of teaching is kind of unconventional because based on my experience, it took me a long time before I was able to play any song that I like since reading notes would require unwavering attention and huge effort depending on student’s skills to be able to play it perfectly.
