I am an active member of Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC). My students take the Certificate of Merit (CM) test annually in performance, theory, sight-reading and ear training. Taking the CM test is optional but highly recommended. I also make sure my students have plenty of chances at performing on stage at recitals by organizing my own recitals or joining forces with other MTAC teachers. I teach a combination of Suzuki and traditional methods. I grew up as a Suzuki student, but in my professional teaching life have learned to add additional methods into lessons to supplement training. For young, beginner students, I start them off with a method book like "All for Strings," which teaches first by rote. Not long after the students achieve the basic skills of the violin, we incorporate the Suzuki method and note reading. Read More

For 3-5 year olds on piano I use Wunderkeys and supplement with Bastien Music Tree and music I have written when note reading is introduced. Usually I continue into Faber and Faber but Wunderkeys is adding more method books for beginners 5+ and I may start using that once it is available for purchase. I highly encourage theory and incorporate it into lessons when time. I have use Three Cranky Women theory books and Julie McIntosh Johnson Theory. Read More

I graduated from the University of Redlands in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and played in the University's orchestra and various chamber groups while studying there.
