I specialize in teaching classical Suzuki method, however, my teaching skills are broad. Starting from beginner level students and teaching them technicalities and specifics of classical violin to teaching students of any age creative writing and spontaneous playing. I also specialize in creative pop song writing and alternative recording. This includes training students who see themselves pursuing playing violin for bands and in more diverse musical cultures. I train everyone with at least a basic skill set and understanding of classical violin and sight reading, then allow them to choose if they want to stick with classical violin or dive into ear training and creative writing. Instruments: Piano Violin
I stress the basics: scales, arpeggios and chords for piano and scales and double stops for violin. In regard to the piano, I have students practice each hand alone before combining them. Generally two pieces are assigned for students to work on and that work is continued for several weeks. I emphasize sight reading and rhythm. These are two aspects of music that are difficult for many. In regard to reading, the names and purposes of the various signs and symbols must be learned. Read More

I have extensive experience as a teacher as well as a performer. I bring these two accomplishments together to provide a well rounded experience for my students. In High School, I performed with the Kansas City Youth Symphony for 8 years, the Kansas City Cello Choir for eight years, the Missouri All-State for three years, and various other honor orchestras throughout her career. While still attending Drake University, I played in the Drake Symphony Orchestra, the Des Moines Symphony and the Encore String Trio. Read More

Other than doing things musically, practicing in different times and intentions help a lot for the student to be open to play songs in different ways. Technique and theory are necessary tools. To apply concepts musically they need to do it with musical taste. Read More

I became the musician I am today because I was privileged to have many mentors who not only provided me with excellent technical training and numerous rare opportunities, but also with strong motivation and clear emotional guidance. Now I strive to be that kind of mentor and teacher for my students, engaging each one on a personal level, and providing the kind of opportunities for growth that my teachers provided for me. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress and this makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the students, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

In 2014 I founded the string program at Lincoln Heights Youth Arts Center, a program that provides affordable music classes to students aged 8-18. Additionally, in the past two years I have been the primary music instructor at Lincoln and Mountain Avenue Elementary Schools in La Crescenta. After eight years of work in music education I have developed a passion not just for the craft of the violin, but in helping each student to achieve their personal goals through fun and engaging music.
