Unsatisfied with working in this field I went on to get two more degrees at UCSB, bachelor of arts and music performance and composition. I believe that everything begins with fundamentals. That being said, it's most important to learn what the students goal is. Perhaps they only want to learn a particular piece that they are playing for Solo and Ensemble Contest. Perhaps it's an adult student that just wants to learn to play a particular piece for a special occasion. Lessons have to be tailored to to meet the individual students desires. I have spent my entire life working the arts.  In high school I was a member of choir, band, theatre and jazz band. During my Air Force Years I attended the University of Maryland with my primary focus on musical theatre. Traveling the world and working with multiple theatre organizations has been an expirence that few can say they have done.
