Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Originally from Houston, TX, I began my music studies in 2010 and graduated from Sam Houston State University with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I went to earn a Master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Houston in 2017. I recently moved to New York City after being accepted into the Manhattan School of Music's Professional Studies program for classical trumpet. In October of 2018, I won the 2nd trumpet position with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Orchestra and have performed as principal trumpet and soloist with the orchestra. Read More

For absolute beginner students of any age, we begin outside of a book as the best way to learn is from personal experience. With wind players for example, we work on breathing, posture, and hand position as these three components help students produce a quality sound in as comfortable of a way as possible. My teaching experience started when I was still in college a few years ago. I start with new students by encouraging them to practice and study music consistently, as this is the best way to internalize and truly learn the art. However, I also help students individually by focusing on the goals they are trying to accomplish in their playing. At the same time, I like for students to have fun because it is the failure of the teacher if the student is not having a good time or willing to go through the trials of becoming better at their craft. As a performing musician, we are always giving and receiving knowledge to our colleagues and pals. I've been teaching people things about music since the end of high school, when I began to really feel like I had a grasp on what "good playing" sounds like. It wasn't until college when I sat down with someone and gave them a free one-on-one lesson for the first time. At that moment, even though my primary passion is performing music, I felt ecstatic that I was actually able to teach someone something that they'll remember throughout their days as a musician.
