I have degrees in Vocal Performance and Literature (doctorate and master's) from the Eastman School of Music and Music Education (Bachelor) from SUNY Buffalo State College. I have performed as a professional opera singer for over fifteen years singing multiple styles in famous venues around the United States, including the prestigious Carnegie Hall. For beginning students who are children, I typically begin with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for the basics as well as repertoire, along with my own additional methods of practice. Once the student has a grasp on their fundamentals, I will begin to progress through the book and introduce larger solo repertoire that would be appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I show them my methods of beginning to play the trumpet, as well as something that may interest them and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons engaging and exciting no matter the level of their ability.
