I didn't enter this industry as a teacher, but as an artist and activist. At 11 years old, I learned about the human trafficking epidemic and was determined to do something to help. I gathered up my keyboard and my little sister Iris (then 4 years old), and began writing and performing music to raise funds and awareness for victims. Over the next six years, we performed at conventions, opened for artists in concert, and produced charity projects with young people from the Broadway community. Read More

After his passing. I continued taking lessons from my uncle, my grandfather’s son as well as taking lessons with local Music stores. But my grandfathers teaching technique was a little different than other teachers. Before I was able to touch the trumpet, he sat me down and taught me Music Theory with a method called the Solfege, Also called Solfeggio, this method enabled me to understand what I was playing before touching the instrument. After graduating from the Conservatory, I taught privately and performed in the Boston area as well as touring throughout the United states. After moving to Maine, I was hired to teach private lessons and assist with faculty and student performances at Colby College. In addition to teaching at Colby, I performed with orchestras, jazz ensembles, pop bands and African drum ensembles in Maine & Europe. Currently, I am living in Connecticut and teach at Miss Porter's School and privately at my home studio, as well as performing with a jazz group and a pipe & drum marching band. Read More
