Different personalities and different aged students require different treatment, whether it is with calmer instruction or more insistent direction. Although I strive to find the best method of teaching, no matter the student, I always try my best to be patient, positive, and honest. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with my own method based on fundamental approach to trumpet playing, such as Arban, Maggio, Collin and Clark methods. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I've been playing drums since I received a snare drum one Christmas as a child. Slowly but surely I started to teach myself how to play by listening and watching. As a teenager I began formal lessons and followed that up with a stint at Berklee College of Music in Boston in the performance program. One of my past students had received entry into the Fiorello H. Laguardia High School Of Music Art and Performing Arts. The best thing as a music teacher personally is to see of my students develop a love for music. It is also important that each individual student will improve at his or her own pace and his or her own level. I will encourage this by making realistic goals for all my students at each individual lesson.
