Once they begin to grasp the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their interest and skill level. I set up goals for each student based on their interests and what I feel is going to help them advance. As they progress to intermediate, they will be expected to buy some classical music, collections, and technique books.
