In 2015, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Platteville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral and General Music Education. I have taught piano for 14 years, voice for 10 years, and guitar for 3 years. For beginning students who are ages 8-13 will first use the Standard of Excellence red book and then they will transfer to the blue book. Intermediate and Advance will use the Foundations for superior performance book. We will start to pick solos that they are able to play and work on them. It’s important to be able to gain that knowledge of theory early to help students be more independent. For adults on piano, we would work together to find repertoire to fit their skill level and interest to keep things engaging and relevant. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Vocal Music Education in 2010, and am almost finished with my doctorate in choral conducting.
