For the beginner my method is to start with the basics. You will learn how to read standard notation, and tabs. We will work on technique, and help you develop a nice tone. I also like to incorporate music that the students want to learn to make it fun and exciting as well. Even though learning the guitar can be hard work, it should also be really fun. I began teaching when I was in High School, where I had several students of varying ages and skill levels.  I taught private lessons in their homes.  I encourage regular practice, and weekly lessons.  A mixture of method books and my own personal written lessons I have found to be the most effective teaching strategy. Books with a variety of popular solos I also utilize.  Method books are necessary for skill, but can get boring and repetitive for younger students.  Keeping things fresh and interesting is my main focus in teaching. I have toured the country with Peter Frampton and others and have played big concerts including Madison Square Garden. I took lessons from several different drummers including Sonny Igoe. I learned during my time that if I wasn't having fun in my lessons it turned into a less enjoyable task. We sent students to perform at Terminal 5 in New York City where they performed alongside members of the rock group Living Color. Students also performed at famed venues such as the Ridgefield Playhouse and the Spaceland Ballroom. In 2015 I was accepted to SUNY Purchase’s Studio Composition Graduate Program which took me away from my job at School of Rock.
