My teaching style is flexible depending on your needs. If you need a more strict style (perhaps you are working on college audition), then I'll make sure you have the proper technique, repetoire, sight reading, and skills needed to succeed. If piano is more of a hobby than a career path, we can work with that as well! Everyone has a different style depending on their needs. Read More

A New York native and life-long professional drummer, I played Dvorak at Carnegie Hall, punk and ska music at CBGB's and classic rock at Wetlands in NYC all during high school. After furthering my studies in percussion performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, I founded progressive jazz quartet Schleigho, hit the road in 1991 and toured nationally until 2004 , releasing 5 CD's and playing over 3000 shows with the likes of jazz great John Scofield, funk legend Maceo Parker and rock icons The Allman Bothers Band, who signed them in 1998 to their record label, Flying Frog Records. I enjoy watching my students grow and watching them develop their own interests and personal tastes. I open the door for my students with a strong technical instruction, and encourage them to walk through that "door" and develop their musical expression and curiosity. Through hard work, patience, and curiosity, we can form a connection that will help us both grow in innumerable ways. Moving beyond the teaching setting, I believe it is important to foster a connection to many other art forms. Read More

My teaching includes all aspects of music; Musical theory, sight singing, as well as Music History. My teaching style allows the child to have fun while they learn their instrument, but I emphasize a strong practice regiment. Your child will understand that while learning music and an instrument can be fun, there will be some work involved if they want to become great. I usually use either the Alfred or Rubank method books to supplement a curriculum that I tailor make for each individual student. Read More

I am a very patient teacher. I set goals for my students but I help them progress at their own pace. I encourage them to learn the proven methods and to search what they are interested in learning. Learning every aspect of music is incouraged. There are proven teaching methods for learning the blues and improvisation, with knowledge of the right notes to play on what chords. Tone, armature, and breathing properly are important. Read More

The most rewarding part of teaching is watching the student master something they have worked hard on. I feel it is important for each student to develop his or her own musical identity. Having confidence in their ability, and reaching a level of comfort with the instrument I feel helps them develop both as a musician and in other parts of their lives. The lessons are designed to meet their individual needs so i can help each student progress at their own pace. Read More
