I am a determined and motivated music teacher who loves working with students and giving my love of music to others. I graduated from City College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education. I have done gigs as a substitute drummer playing the drums in clubs all over New York City when I was a teenager many years ago. I have played with Michael Brecker at the Seventh Avenue South Jazz Club and also have played with Donald Dunn at the Bourne Club and also have played with Ace Frehley at the Lamour Club. Read More

The beauty of studying music is that there is always something else to learn, but the most moving and fun part of singing is communicating ideas and poetry. I aim to develop personal ownership of songs/repertoire in all students (no matter their age) alongside the instruction and study of healthy vocal technique. When I teach a voice student, I'm teaching more than only music. I teach anatomy (bone structure, posture, alignment, breathing, jaw movement, etc.), vowel formation, language pronunciation skills, music theory/history, basic music reading, and poetic interpretation. Instruments: Piano Violin Music
I have been teaching for 5 years to a wide range of ages. I take an individualistic approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to my students. I teach violin for all levels and beginner/intermediate piano. I encourage all my students to learn how to read music and have a basic understanding of theory. I prefer a mix of a musical and technical approach and encourage a slow but steady timeline for learning. Read More

I am a cellist, composer, and teacher currently residing in Upper Manhattan. I love performing, teaching, and creating exciting new music with all of my friends and students. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Music at the Manhattan School of Music, with an emphasis in Contemporary Performance. I am also a member of the Contemporary Music Ensemble "Tactus", which has been critically acclaimed by the New Yorker as The deepest, grandest noise of the musical season so far, and by the New York Times, "Ambitious . . . finely polished . . . spirited". For beginning students, I use Faber and Faber's Piano Adventures, which offers a variety of supplemental material to encourage a variety of styles. As a musician who values both classical music and improvisation, I teach my students how to use chord sheets very soon after they begin to read music. As their skills increase, so will the variety of music I introduce based on their interest. Since I quit piano at one point around age 10, I empathize with struggling students and try to make music as fun and accessible as possible to help them truly grow a lifelong love of music! Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola Piano Voice
My teaching style is strongly based on the constructivist method of learning. What that means is I prefer to help students by means of demonstrating skills( Left/ right-hand technique, excerpts from music, etc.), to scaffold their learning, and to help them overcome challenges by means of critical thinking and problem-solving. Setting practice goals and also keeping a practice journal is an effective way to keep students on track with their playing development. Read More
