I guided these students to feel the construction of the keyboard, and understand basic piano knowledge such as scales, theories. They were not piano majors, but still I wanted them to be able to think like pianists, which would be extremely beneficial for their future musical career. I interacted with the students as much as possible, as I prefer this type of classroom as a pose to hated one-direction, silent classes. Read More

I love to have fun in my lessons. No single student understands the same thing the same way so I take the time to listen/understand them as a person and as a musician. While it would be wonderful if all of my students became virtuosi musicians, I understand that sometimes math class may be at the forefront of their attention. That said, practice is still required. Like a doctor, I prescribe solutions to students to help them achieve their goals and will do everything I can to help them to succeed but if they dont take the remedy, success is can be quite slow. I love teaching specifically because I love helping others find their passion. At each lesson, I'll check in with the students to see how they are feeling that day (so I'm aware of any different energies in the room). Then, for instruments, I'll start by listening to the material that they were supposed to prepare over the past week. For voice lessons, I'll start with vocalises and then move into repertoire material. Read More

I love music and I love teaching! I took piano lessons as a child, was in a band as a teenager, and began giving piano lessons in my 20's. I teach all styles of music, sight-reading, music theory and ear training. For those students more more interested in learning pop or jazz, I give special attention to chords and "lead sheet" playing. I have worked with many singers to teach them how to accompany themselves on piano. Read More
