Overview:

I have hosted the Westchester, NY Musika recital for two years. I am a passionate and engaging instructor. I have taught all age levels and backgrounds and work to connect students to the music they love and help them realize their own voice at their instrument. I have composed music for lots of films and am constantly working on my craft. I teach classical and jazz and pop as well as how to read chord changes, charts and creating your own demos and songs. I have taught music theory at the special music school in manhattan and have degrees form Columbia and NYU. I look forward to connecting with you!

EXPERIENCE

I have taught since I was in college. I regularly taught music theory and piano to non keyboardists at the special music school. In addition I have worked with students of all backgrounds. Some want to learn how to record a song, some want to play a song they love, some just want to make great music and I help students achieve all of these goals. I have performed at Carnegie Hall and at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC. I am an accomplished composer writing and producing in all styles of music.

METHODS USED
i use a simple and direct method of achieving mastery of rhythm and tonality so that my students whatever the age or background has fluency in playing the most demanding of pieces at their respective level. With my simple approach, students can expect great results in minimal amount of time. Of course practicing regularly my instructions will allow student to achieve great heights. Try it out and see for yourself! Music is both very beneficial for developing and maintaining our higher intellectual faculties as well as a hugely rewarding and fun activity. As much as I love performing and composing myself, I love to see my students accomplish feats they did not think they could do.
LESSON STYLE
I am a great listener, compassionate and motivational instructor. I have worked with people of all backgrounds and needs. I have even worked with my mother in law’s cat, Thomas who personally loves smooth jazz :). I am honest and can easily pick out any student’s artistic strengths— and trust me every student has them...come try out a lesson and see for yourself! I have a very clear and concise method of teaching focusing on the foundation of our ability to hear pitch and rhythm. Just like building a house, once a student of mine develops these abilities to hear music, they can play very demanding pieces and develop great musical confidence.
