A pianist from my earliest memories and a piano teacher since 8th grade, I have loved, studied, and taught music for most of my life. I completed a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Washburn University under the teaching of James Rivers, then completed two Master of Arts Degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary. I try to focus more on technique and the physical approach to the instrument, with the bass being so large and cumbersome it is most important that students are treating their own bodies well! Musicality is also very important, I may ask my students to listen for the longer line within a peace. If they cannot find the larger phrase we can explore it together! I like to have a balance of exercises that are centered around developing technical facility and developing the ears of the students. Each student is assessed on what they wish to learn and their own capabilities.
