My experience includes teaching piano for over 10 years at my home studio and instructing general music classes in grades K - 12.  The wide range of music teaching experience, including both private piano and music classes enhance my ability to understand a wide range of learners and accommodate their learning styles and needs. I view motivation as the key to success and provide appealing music and opportunities for students to develop an appreciation of music.  Students benefit from performing and are encouraged to play in recitals, enter competitions, and make music for others to enjoy.

For beginning students I use graded methods such as Schultz Piano Course or Alfred Basic Piano to enable students to play a song from the very first lesson.  These graded methods introduce basic note reading, the layout of the piano keys, and proper posture and hand positioning, allowing students to progress gradually and systematically to more advanced music.  Interests and skill levels of older beginners and intermediate students are assessed individually, and a plan of study is tailored for them.  I believe that motivation is a key factor in music study, and I incorporate into each lesson one piano book jointly chosen by the student that reflects their current musical interest.  I foster musical development through integrating music theory and appreciation seamlessly into lessons so that students become complete musicians.
