www.evanryanmusic.com Professional bassist, and beginner-intermediate keyboard teacher. I teach keyboard with iPianoLab, a great beginner to intermediate keyboard learning platform designed specifically for kids aged 5-10, and can be tailored to suit adults as well. I have played Jazz bass for the past 10 years, and currently gig around NYC and in the area. Music is my passion, the power of music can be healing and life changing. Music is accessible for anyone, as long as the desire to play is there. Read More

A lifelong musician, I'm trained in both classical and jazz on trumpet and piano. I hold a PhD in Musicology (with a focus on the music of Japan) from Cornell University (2018), and regularly perform on both piano and trumpet here in NYC. I write my own music, and also have a repertoire of classics in both the classical and jazz styles. In addition to teaching and playing music, I teach the Chinese and Japanese languages. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I love music and I love teaching! I took piano lessons as a child, was in a band as a teenager, and began giving piano lessons in my 20's. I teach all styles of music, sight-reading, music theory and ear training. For those students more more interested in learning pop or jazz, I give special attention to chords and "lead sheet" playing. I have worked with many singers to teach them how to accompany themselves on piano. Read More

I started regularly teaching private lessons in 2019. I worked at the Wilmette Parks District, the Park District of Highland Park, Dynamic Music, and as a freelance teacher. I also was a music director for the Wilmette Children's Theatre, the Florida Repertory Theatre, and Highland Park's summer programming. I've been playing guitar since I was eight, piano since I was twelve, and I've been singing my whole life. I also had four years of performance training at the University of Central Florida, where I was a musical theatre performance major. Read More

Sharing the joy of music is what it's all about, but at the same time, everyone is different, so it's vital to nurture and encourage each student's natural abilities and inclinations, while showing them the way to new and wonderful worlds, and skills they didn't know they could master. As a teacher, two of the greatest joys are helping a student discover some of the beautiful magic of music that's already familiar to me, on the one hand, and learning from the student a new way of thinking about or hearing music, on the other. Typically I start off gaining some insight into my students. Who do they look up to, the type of music they're into, what genres they want to improve in, etc... After gathering that information I ask them to sing a song that they enjoy or that means something to them. Based off of that I've gathered a substantial amount of information about their voice and their preferences to develop a curriculum/course outline for them. Read More

As an actor and vocalist, some of my recent credits include: Munkustrap in CATS (Broadway National Tour), Gabe in Next to Normal (Theater on the Square), Jamie in The Last Five Years (Revolution Theatrics), and Pippin in Pippin (Thin Air Theater Co.). Throughout my education, I was classically trained with a focus in Bel Canto technique. From there, I expanded my knowledge into different approaches to singing, studying everything from Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) to Estill. Read More
