Over the past decade I have performed with world-renowned performers and conductors all over the world. I have performed recital, chamber, concerto, and orchestral repertoire. At Indiana University I performed solo recitals, concertos, chamber music, and in orchestra. In addition to earning a minor degree in historical clarinet performance I earned a Performer's certificate for outstanding student recitals. Currently, I am a student at Yale pursuing an MM degree. I continued to teach music at that same sleep away camp for years -- eventually becoming the Head of the Music Department ( Rock Shop) there - coaching bands, leading improv classes, and developing the program. I later enjoyed several years teaching as an adjunct professor in the music department at my alma mater. I have always had a steady practice of private students ranging in ages and experience. Whatever the material be, I focus on finding the student's true musical voice, allowing them to take ownership over their instrument, allowing any intimidation to fade, and therefore, finding the natural joy in playing music. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method and the Sassmannshaus Early Start books. As they grasp the beginning fundamentals, I incorporate the Alfred "My First Theory Book" series. As the students advance, we begin using Martin's "I Can Read Music," Rick Mooney's "Position Pieces for Cello" and "Fun in Thumb Position."
