I am an American clarinetist and clarinet instructor from Portland, OR. Im currently pursuing a Masters of Music at the Manhattan School of music with Charles Neidich, and recently graduated from University of Oregon with degrees in Clarinet Performance as well as German in 2023. I like to start my lessons with sound exercises to establish a good tone and then move on to the more technical part. The lesson usually ends with an etude or piece where we explore ways in which to incorporate the technical work we started our lesson with. I like to show my students how to isolate one specific technical aspect, work on it but also stay aware of the big picture and incorporate their technical skills in the flute repertoire. Read More

I do not stick to one method or style of teaching as each student is different. A twelve-year-old student who wants to write songs, and sing Taylor Swift, will need a very different approach than a fifty-year-old opera singer. However, I do implement two very important key points in my teaching: Honesty and health. This is done by first making sure the artist (I prefer to refer to my students as artists as a sign of respect, and because I’m learning from them as well) has proper technique. Read More
