I am a great listener, compassionate and motivational instructor. I have worked with people of all backgrounds and needs. I have even worked with my mother in law’s cat, Thomas who personally loves smooth jazz :). I am honest and can easily pick out any student’s artistic strengths— and trust me every student has them...come try out a lesson and see for yourself! I have a very clear and concise method of teaching focusing on the foundation of our ability to hear pitch and rhythm. Read More
Instruments: Piano
Nothing is more exciting than seeing one of students enjoying playing the piano, I try to determine what inspires each students and set realistic goals for them. To some students , I encourage them to practice only a few measures, while another student may complete the entire piece. Each student learns and progresses individually, I try to find out what inspires the student, and gear my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. For my more advanced students, I work with them on musical concepts to develop strong practice habits and scheduling. Read More
Instruments: Voice
Shortly after graduating college, I was hired to be a musical theatre teacher at a local dance studio where I taught dance, voice and acting. After teaching with them, I had students reach out to me to further their vocal training. I have had regular voice students for the last two years, and even after moving to New York this past fall, several of my students from California are still with me by doing lessons over Skype! I have professional experience in classical, musical theater, and jazz styles and am comfortable teaching at every level. With regard to teaching, I have experience in one-on-one and group settings in my home and at Bach to Rock music school. Ive been teaching private vocal lessons for over 10 years, both vocal training and piano.I believe students should have fun while learning and participate in music outside of the classroom, so I encourage them to participate in recitals, competitions, and even songwriting to stay motivated and celebrate their progress. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! Read More

I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I am well versed in mant different styles and techniques. I believe that playing guitar is an ongoing, never-ending learning experience. I have learned many things from playing with other musicians either with a band or when just jamming with other guitarists. I have taught private lessons on and off for about 5 years to children and adults. Because music is an ongoing learning experience, many times I also become teacher when playing with less experienced musicians. Read More
