Currently, I work as a piano accompanist and lesson instructor at a K-8 music school. This occupation allows me to work with a wide variety of students with different interests and ability levels. It has been extremely rewarding to help these students grow and appreciate music in deeper ways. Throughout high school and college I would also teach multiple students with different instruments. I am a strong believer in listening before you play. When it comes to younger students this can be challenging, yet also rewarding. Younger students require a lot of demonstration as far as how to hold and position your fingers. It is a lot of muscle memory, and most new students need proper technique to get them to enjoy their instrument. I find this takes patients.
