For beginning students, I will usually go with a methods book, requiring them to learn 5 finger patterns, and then eventually major and minor scales(all three forms). Once the student has progressed from the beginner methods book, I will suggest classical repertoire for each student based on their preferences and personal skill level. I believe that it is important to take the time to get to know each student's needs and to set realistic goals that will set them up for long-term success. By paying attention to what inspires the student and how they take in information most effectively, I can successfully tailor my instruction. I am a fairly laid back person, and understand that my students have wide-ranging activities and priorities. I have played in venues from small coffee houses to The Paramount in Huntington, NY.  I have played in many groups and ensembles as a premier performer and, of course, as part of the "tutti".  I have studied under Micheal Bellajonas at Suffolk County Community College and Jerry Willard at Stony Brook University in my classical guitar studies.  I maintain a violin/guitar duet with my wife, who is on her way to becoming a music educator.  I've taught all different types of students and am very open and patient to everyone's needs.
