I typically use Piano Adventure or Little Mozart as a basis paring with other fun music materials depending on students age. Once the students reach a certain level, for example when they finish the level 3a of Piano Adventure, I start to add Hanon, Czerny, and Sonatina in turn, and prepare them to play in competition. From there, I may ask the student to try to repeat a segment of what they played that I found particularly interesting or illuminating. Along with demonstrating to the student certain technical and sonic patterns in their use of the instrument, this repeated process also allows me to identify a concrete path forward that is based uniquely on that student's apparent learning style, tastes, and current technical limits. For my first lessons I teach the notes of the guitar and some simple chords. I like to find out beforehand what the students are most interested in learning. Then I gather pieces from my students based on what they are interested in and teach them these pieces. I have been teaching music in public schools for the last 5 years. I graduated from Keene State College in 2013 with a degree in Music Education and a focus on Instrumental Music. In 2016 I went to and graduated from the US Army School of Music as a tenor saxophone player. During my time at the school of music I also played the alto and baritone saxophones.
