When it comes to feedback, I believe in specific feedback that brings certain things to students' attention and praises good technique. I ask that you always try your best in lessons, as I will always put my best foot forward to help you advance. I love music and love teaching. I am an experienced musician and song writer. I have toured in bands and have a great variety of experience in different genres of music. I have served as a worship leader and lead guitarist at the Crossing Life Church in Windham, NH, as well as collaborated on several recording projects over the years. I have taught private lessons on and off over the past 10 years by word of mouth referrals. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Therefore. Its important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. We can set a goal in each lesson, which can give them the motivation to keep practicing. Each student has their own method to teach, but my job is to find out how to make them feel that practicing is not boring, they are willing to play. Read More

The teaching style that I use is to get to know my students and keep a fun and engaging atmosphere. I try to convey that the goal of learning an instrument is to play music, so I always save time for playing songs or jamming together. I always found that my best teachers were kind and lighthearted individuals that understood my needs. I try to be the same for my students. Read More

I began teaching almost 15 years ago, starting with private lessons, and eventually branching out to singing and handbell choirs, inner-city after school programs, outreach programs for the homeless, and adult continuing learning in Boston, MA. I moved to NJ 3 years ago to be closer to my musical theatre career, and have enjoyed teaching private lessons to typical and special needs students of all ages. I pride myself on being able to teach for all sorts of needs and understandings, and helping every student find their own personal voice and place in music. Read More

My methods of choice for instruction are many due to the amount of instruments that I teach and the many levels of mastery within each concentration. For most woodwinds I begin with the Rubank family of methods and duet books. I favor many of the Berklee press books for music theory, voice, keyboards, genre studies, guitar, bass, composition, ear training, harmony and arranging. The Schirmer library of classical piano pieces is often used. Read More

For beginning students I prefer to use either Alfred's, Mel Bay, or Hal Leonard method books. I generally stay away from method books that use guitar tablature because I find that student will prefer to read the tablature instead of standard musical notation. Tablature is a good way to easily show how guitar parts are played, but is not useful when teaching standard notation, music theory, harmony, etc. In addition to using a method book, I will also teach the student popular songs, which is a great way to start teaching chords and song structure in addition to keeping the lesson fun and the student engaged. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
