I actually began teaching under my teacher when I was about 14 years of age. Since that time I've worked with young and old and done my best to give them the joys of music that everyone should have at some point. I've been very fortunate to have had a good number of students who have enjoyed great success with music as a profession. I try to impart my wisdom and experience to assist students in achieving their musical goals, whatever they may be. Read More

I primarily use Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books for all of my beginner and intermediate students, and for adult students, I supplement them with Gabriel Koeppen's Cello Method books. For more advanced students, I will work with their current repertoire to determine what skills they can further develop by assigning them new and more challenging pieces or etudes (such as Popper or Piatti) based on their needs. I assign all of my students age and level-appropriate pieces at regular intervals in addition to their books or etudes, ranging from short and simple pieces to highly technical showpieces or concertos. My teaching experience has began more recently, but I am a teacher who has had the opportunity to be in school learning new things, while being able to also pass down my discoveries with students. I've also found that a combination of classical, modern, and jazz music can go a long way in helping students enjoy their musical experiences. It's important to make sure my students are staying motivated and always learning more than one genre. Read More

It depends on the age of the student, but there are plenty of method books and pieces that can both teach a student music theory and notation, as well as their performance skill. With beginners its perfect to start with the Rubank series from Beginner-Intermediate. Many students are given the "Standard of Excellence" series by their school teacher and that series works as well. I believe these books are a great start, but can get old fast. Read More
Instruments: Drums
My methods are straight forward. I focus on developing or improving fundementals such as rudiments and then applying them to the drum-set. Everyone starts off at a different place, so I mold the process to fit the certain student in a way that helps them improve at their own pace. I mainly focus on rudiments, groove, and how to be a versitile drummer in order to get gigs. Read More
