For someone with no experience on guitar I'll typically begin with scales, and familiarizing with the guitar. For bass; exactly the same as guitar to start, drums would start with with your basic 2,4 beat, and familiarization with parts (snare, hi hat, etc). Vocalist I would always start with a warm up, basics, and note reciting. For keyboard beginners I would show them their A,B,C's as far as how to access those, and we'd start messing with different shapes, and songs almost right away. Read More

I've been teaching music for a little over 5 years (2014). I have started many kids who don't know if they would rather learn guitar, drums, or piano. I encourage consistent practice and practice methods that ensure that the students always feel a sense of improvement without frustration. Personally I've felt the sense of improvement after practicing but was still more agitated, but that was college, before I started teaching. Read More

My teaching style consists of compassion, patience and developing discipline for ones instrument little by little. Nothing is pushed, but my philosophy is "bit by bit." I want the student to be able to be challenged at the same time having fun and enjoying their instrument. I do have my own feel for each student which is completely different and varies to their ability, personality and behavior, but I am constantly tuned into my students to and what their needs and likes are.
